Cromite is a Chromium-based browser, successor to the defunct Bromite project with built-in content blocking and privacy enhancements.

Features

On initial setup the browser prompt the users to choose automatic updates and default search engine.

Other defaults include search suggestions, passwords/payments methods save/autofill disabled and third-party cookies blocked, always use secure connections enabled.

Configuration

Users should set close all tabs on exit, open external links in incognito, secure DNS and enable options Adblock Plus lists and anti-circumvention / snippets for better content blocking.

Recommendations

Cromite is a good browser choice for Android users except for GrapheneOS users you should favor Vanadium.

Limitations

Cromite is a very small project and its sustainability not guaranteed. Users should pay close attention to its development and update cycle.
