Mullvad browser is a Firefox-based browser resulting from an official collaboration between Mullvad and the Tor project.

Features

A general web browser

The Tor project offers great privacy but can be cumbersome for users with a lower threat model. Mullvad Browser allows to browse the web without routing the traffic through Tor.

Anti-fingerprinting protections

It inherits its strong anti-fingerprinting protections from the Tor Browser.

New identity

Users should be careful when using the new identity feature inherited from the Tor Browser. In Mullvad browser, it mearly close tabs / windows, delete browsing history / cookies and start a new session.

Search Engine

The default private search engine Mullvad Leta is made by the same people who make this browser.

Extensions

The browser comes with three extensions:

The Mullvad VPN extension is only used by users of Mullvad VPN. uBlock Origin and NoScript are an integral part of the browser privacy feature set.

Configuration

Users should use the browser as is and should refrain from customizing it outside of the security levels.

Recommendations

Users should considered using Mullvad Browser for general web browsing on desktop. They should refrain from installing others extensions which would break the anti-fingerprinting protections.

Limitations

Users may find the experience barebone, and may prefer an less inconvenient Firefox-based browser like Librewolf.
